YARRA BANK RESERVE

Public BBQ

Yarra Bank Reserve occupies a historically significant riverside location where Melbourne's original punt crossing once operated, now transformed into a family-friendly recreation area beside one of Australia's oldest steel bridges. The park's native plant gardens showcase careful restoration work, creating multiple quiet spaces for contemplation while children enjoy the playground's climbing equipment and swings. Well-maintained barbecue facilities and covered picnic areas make it ideal for family gatherings, though the designated off-leash dog area occasionally creates tension between pet owners and families due to inconsistent pet supervision. Public transport accessibility adds convenience for city dwellers seeking riverside tranquillity, while the Yarra River walking tracks extend the recreational options beyond the immediate park boundaries. Recent improvements have enhanced the site's natural beauty, though limited parking means street-side spots fill quickly during weekends and pleasant weather.
