WRIGHT RESERVE JOYNER

Public BBQ

Well, here's a lesson in checking your facts before packing the barbie tongs. Wright Reserve Joyner sits forlornly in suburban Queensland, permanently shuttered despite what optimistic mapping services might suggest. What was once promised as a family-friendly barbecue spot with picnic tables and a play area for the kids has become little more than a reminder that not every green space survives council budgets and urban planning. The reserve's closure leaves Joyner families searching elsewhere for their weekend sausage sizzle destinations. It's a shame really - the concept of combining barbecue facilities with children's entertainment in this corner of Queensland had potential, but sometimes the best-laid picnic plans simply don't survive contact with reality.
