WHITES CREEK VALLEY PARK

Public BBQ

Tucked away in Sydney's Inner West, Whites Creek Valley Park proved to be one of those delightful discoveries that makes you wonder what other gems are hiding in plain sight. This quiet pocket of green space manages to pack an impressive array of features into its compact footprint. The park's wetland area became an immediate hit with the kids, who spent ages spotting turtles, frogs, and dragonflies around the ponds. The community garden and orchard offer a lovely touch – free mulberries and grapes for visitors brave enough to sample nature's offerings. The playground caters well to younger children, while older kids gravitated toward the compact skatepark and basketball courts. What sets this place apart is its thoughtful design. Shaded areas provide respite on warmer days, and the dramatic railway viaduct creates an unexpectedly striking backdrop. The free electric barbecue tucked up the back is perfectly positioned for family gatherings, though you'll need to plan ahead as there are no toilets on-site.
