WEIR PARK

Public BBQ

Weir Park sits along the river in Horsham, offering the kind of multi-purpose recreation space that Victorian country towns do particularly well. The walking and bike paths trace the riverbank, where small green parrots populate the grassy areas and native birds provide a constant soundtrack to the natural environment. The park accommodates dogs off-leash in a designated area, making it popular with the canine set. Barbecue facilities dot the grounds, complete with water taps and bench seating suitable for family gatherings, though ant activity can be vigorous and some units occasionally malfunction. The covered playground features a climbable boat, rope climbing structures, and equipment scaled for younger children, all within a fenced perimeter. Toilets are available on-site. During dry periods the vegetation loses its lustre, though the park maintains a safe, welcoming atmosphere regardless of season. The riverside location also serves as a venue for community events like charity car shows.
