WALTER GALT RESERVE

Public BBQ

This Kingston park serves as home ground for the Kingston Hawks cricket club, carrying over 150 years of cricket history with a friendly atmosphere on match days. The open oval provides plenty of space for dogs to run off-lead, particularly suited to calmer breeds as there's no fencing to contain more adventurous types. Visitors appreciate the wide open areas for frisbees and balls, with enough room to spread out and avoid other groups. The sporting facility doubles as a leisure space with toilet blocks that prove handy enough that some travellers stop specifically for bathroom access. While it's described as a great family-friendly spot that's usually quiet, the park lacks many additional features beyond the oval and basic amenities. Dog owners should note that despite its popularity with the canine crowd, poo littering is a persistent problem across the grounds. Located close to the 708 bus stop and a 10-15 minute walk from Parkdale station, it's an accessible local green space for a low-key outing.
