TINCHI TAMBA WETLANDS

Public BBQ

Tinchi Tamba Wetlands is a well-maintained riverside reserve north of Brisbane that combines BBQ facilities with genuine wildlife encounters. The picturesque location features boardwalks winding through bushland where kangaroos are regularly spotted, along with diverse birdlife and river views. Fishing is popular here, with plenty of fish in the water, though anglers report lines can snag on rocks. The site includes public barbecues, sheltered decking areas, a playground, toilets, and wheelchair-accessible boardwalk sections. It's suitable for kayaking and boating with access to multiple river channels. The reserve works well year-round but particularly shines on sunny winter days. Wildlife extends beyond kangaroos to include snakes (sometimes spotted near picnic areas and in the water), so visitors should check under tables before settling in. Mosquitoes and midges are persistent, especially near the water. Some practical issues include unreliable tap functionality and litter problems from careless visitors. Decent car parking available.
