THOMPSON ESTATE RESERVE

Public BBQ

This riverside park features open soccer fields that attract friendly pigeons and provide space for various sports activities. The playground includes slides, swings, and climbing equipment for children. Parking is straightforward and accessible. A barbecue area is available on site, along with the Monkey Bar cafe which operates efficiently despite limited space. The park connects to a bikeway with multiple path options for cycling into the city. Gardens around the perimeter offer shaded spots, and a bus station is within walking distance. The main drawback is the absence of nearby toilets. The park sits beside a creek that can become a dangerous torrent during floods, though the fields themselves remain dry even during significant flooding events. The bikeway has been well-constructed and provides good connectivity for cyclists and recreational users.
