THE GUMS REST AREA

Public BBQ

This roadside rest area in Kimba offers basic but functional facilities for travellers passing through the Eyre Peninsula. The toilet block is the main feature, with one cubicle each for men and women. While the facilities are old and fairly basic in appearance, they're consistently kept clean and well-stocked with soap and paper towels. The Kimba community maintains the site regularly, which shows in the overall tidiness. On hot days, especially during the area's scorching 45-degree summers, the working toilets with running water are a welcome relief for anyone travelling the long stretches between Streaky Bay and Port Augusta. The facilities remain unlocked and accessible, making this a practical pit stop despite the modest setup. Some visitors note Kimba could benefit from upgraded facilities given its growing popularity as a tourist stopover point.
