THE FISH PARK

Public BBQ

The Fish Park (locally dubbed Lakes Park) proves that Australia's best outdoor dining doesn't always happen at restaurants. This Capel Shire gem combines proper barbecue facilities with unexpected wildlife encounters - kangaroos casually graze whilst you're firing up the barbie. Four gas barbecues serve families well, complemented by ping pong tables and playground equipment that keeps the kids occupied. The walking track offers pleasant exercise, though seasoned visitors warn about the mozzies during their peak season - pack repellent or become a buffet. Accessible parking and clean toilet facilities add practical appeal. Whilst the playground skews toward toddlers rather than older children, the well-maintained lawns provide ample space for family activities. It's peaceful bushland dining with a distinctly Australian twist - just you, your snags, and the occasional roo.
