TEMPLE PARK

Public BBQ

Tucked away on Hodgson Street in Brunswick, Temple Park offers one of those delightfully unpretentious barbecue experiences that Melbourne does so well. The recently renovated toilets are a welcome improvement, though one can't help but wonder why the council insisted on so many bins yet forgot the recycling. The park strikes that perfect balance between spacious and intimate. Sprawling grass areas nestle beneath generous shade trees, while the barbecue facilities sit conveniently near picnic tables and benches. It's the sort of place where four birthday parties can unfold simultaneously without anyone feeling cramped. The playground equipment attempts to please everyone from toddlers to teenagers with varying degrees of success, but the real draw is the relaxed atmosphere. While the toilets could use another upgrade, Temple Park delivers exactly what a proper neighbourhood barbecue spot should: reliable facilities, ample shade, and that distinctly Australian sense of unhurried leisure.
