TARA LAGOON

Public BBQ

This campground offers exceptional value with powered sites at $11 for the first night plus two additional nights free, while unpowered sites cost just $5.50 with the same deal. The facility includes hot showers, clean toilets, and spacious parking bays with blue metal surfaces suitable for tent pegs and awnings. Dog-friendly sites accommodate various camping setups. The lagoon features a scenic walking trail perfect for birdwatching, though it doesn't complete a full circuit. The path works well for walking, running, cycling, and scootering. Town sits within easy walking distance. Cleanliness standards vary depending on which caretaker is on duty, with Katie maintaining daily cleaning of toilets and showers, while other staff can be less consistent. Locals frequently use the amenities throughout the day and night. Taps are available for filling water tanks, though there are no direct water hookups. The peaceful lagoon setting attracts both visitors and locals.
