SYDNEY PARGETER RESERVE

Public BBQ

Sydney Pargeter Reserve proves that some of the best sporting venues are the ones you'd never expect to find. Tucked away from the main roads, this well-maintained cricket ground boasts what players consistently praise as one of the finest turf pitches around, with an outfield so quick it'll surprise even seasoned cricketers. The main ovals are immaculate, though the synthetic wickets out back don't quite match the standard. Beyond cricket, the reserve transforms into a surprisingly peaceful retreat. Kangaroos occasionally hop through the grounds - one visitor had the delightful shock of finding one posing beside their car. The fully fenced dog areas make it a favourite among local pet owners, while walking trails meander through bushland and along concrete pathways. Facilities are practical rather than fancy: clean female toilets (though the men's could use attention), ample car parking, and a decent playground. Shaded seating areas are scattered throughout, some adorned with charming old lawn artifacts that hint at the ground's sporting heritage. Just mind the conditions after rain - those lightning-fast playing surfaces can become rather soggy affairs.
