SUNSHINE PARK

Public BBQ

Rolling into Mirrool after dark, Sunshine Park proved itself a gem of country hospitality. The gravel camping area stretches generously across from the local pub, with space for thirty vans though you'll likely share it with just a handful of fellow travellers. For ten dollars, you can secure power at one of six sites, just pop across to the hotel for the key, though mind that they're closed Mondays and Tuesdays. What strikes you immediately is the immaculate condition of everything. The shower block operates on gold coin donations, a system that somehow maintains spotless facilities better than many paid parks manage. The toilets are genuinely pristine, testament to both community pride and respectful visitors. The pub across the road deserves equal billing, cold beer, hearty meals, and genuinely welcoming owners who embody that rare country warmth. Live music some evenings adds unexpected charm to what could easily be just another roadhouse stop. Yes, road trains rumble past occasionally, but it's a small price for such thoughtful amenities: barbecues, playground, and that rarest of camping commodities, genuine safety and cleanliness combined with community spirit.
