STOREY PARK

Public BBQ

Tucked away on Old Berowra Road, Storey Park proves that sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that don't try too hard to impress you. This enclosed playground has the rare quality of actually thinking about its visitors - five swings including a particularly clever net swing, and climbing frames that cater to everyone from wobbly toddlers to fearless primary schoolers. The BBQ facilities and covered tables suggest someone in council planning actually has children, though I did notice the eternal Australian conundrum: never quite enough toilets for a busy weekend. The gated design means parents can almost relax, and thoughtful touches like a working water bubbler, table tennis table, and ample parking make it a neighbourhood hub rather than just another place to deposit energetic offspring.
