SPEEWAH REGIONAL PARK CAMPGROUND

Public BBQ

A small, very quiet campground in the hills forty-five minutes from Cairns, with three level multi-use sites spread well apart and a grassed area for tents, booked through the Queensland parks website for a few dollars a person a night. There are flush toilets kept clean, a cold shower, a tap by the car park and one working barbecue under the only piece of shelter on site. The multi-use sites have no fire pit - the single pit sits in the tent area and gets shared. A well-signposted two-and-a-half-hour rainforest circuit starts nearby and passes some impressive tall trees. The ground is uneven in places, cattle in the next paddock can be loud of an evening, and the odd leech turns up.
