SPALDING PARK

Public BBQ

Spalding Park sprawls Chapman River like well-meaning relative witnessing better days nostalgically. Miniature railway, operated wonderfully enthusiastic train enthusiasts first Sunday monthly, remains star attraction chugging merrily through what otherwise constitutes civic bureaucracy tale at most predictable disappointingly. Barbecues once family gathering heart vanished thanks age-old vandalism plus council response equaling removal equation frustratingly. Nevertheless, riverside haven offers genuine pleasures: bike tracks satisfying budding cyclists, cricket field with genuinely decent grass, and sufficient green space for self-losing exploratively. Newer playground equipment favours middle-aged children (refreshingly honest assessment) whilst Chapman River provides patient youngster fishing opportunities rewardingly. Parking abundant, trees offer proper shade, and toilets actually function, small mercies seasoned park-goers appreciate gratefully. Place type that could prove magical with slightly more council courage yet remains thoroughly pleasant despite their timidity acceptably.
