SANS SOUCI PARK

Public BBQ

Sans Souci Park proves that Sydney's southern suburbs know a thing or two about hiding treasures in plain sight. Perched beside the Cook Bridge with views that stretch across the bay, this waterfront gem delivers exactly what a weekend barbecue demands - free electric grills, picnic shelters, and parking that won't cost you a mortgage payment. The playground keeps the children occupied while adults claim the best fishing spots along the water's edge (though locals wisely warn against swimming due to the jellyfish population's enthusiasm for uninvited guests). A walking track beneath Rocky Point Road offers surprising delights - coastal daisies and lavender planted amongst the dunes create an unexpectedly beautiful landscape. What strikes you most is the park's dual personality: families spreading out picnic blankets while serious anglers line the water's edge, all unified in their appreciation for those spectacular sunsets that transform the bridge into something approaching art. It's the sort of place that makes you wonder why you've been driving past for years without stopping.
