SANDOWN PARK

Public BBQ

Sandown Park sprawls across Henley Brook with sweeping lake views and well-maintained pathways perfect for skating and scooting. The grassed areas and undercover gazebos provide ample space for picnics, while the enclosed playground caters well to younger children. Birdlife thrives around the ponds, adding natural interest to morning walks. The setting offers genuine potential for relaxed outdoor afternoons, though the park's reality doesn't always match its promise. Vandalism appears to be an ongoing issue, with repairs often delayed, and the cooking facilities have earned a questionable reputation among regulars. The waterways, while scenic, could benefit from more rigorous maintenance. The absence of toilets stands out as a notable gap in amenities. Despite these shortcomings, the location's natural beauty and generous open spaces continue to draw locals seeking a peaceful escape.
