ROTARY PARK

Public BBQ

I stumbled upon Rotary Park during a coastal drive from Streaky Bay, and what a welcome sight it was. After hours of dusty highway, the expanse of emerald grass felt positively magical - though I quickly discovered this oasis comes with a soundtrack of rumbling road trains that continues well into the night. The facilities prove surprisingly decent for a roadside stop. The toilets, while occasionally temperamental according to local chatter, were spotless during my visit. There's ample space for caravans to manoeuvre, and the mowed grass areas provide perfect spots for the dogs to stretch their legs. The single covered eating area feels rather optimistic for the foot traffic, leaving most visitors to picnic on the grass. Still, for a quick leg-stretch or overnight stop, it delivers the essentials. Just mind the doublegees scattered about - nature's reminder that this is still very much the Australian outback, complete with its prickly personality.
