ROTARY PARK

Public BBQ

Rotary Park sprawls beside Lake Joondalup like a well-orchestrated family reunion - all the right elements in their proper places, though the metal playground equipment retains heat with the dedication of a pizza stone in summer. The recent upgrades have transformed this into something rather special: generous undercover areas shelter families from Western Australia's unforgiving sun, while council barbecues beckon weekend warriors armed with sausages and good intentions. The playground equipment caters to everyone from toddlers to adventurous older children, though one suspects the designers never experienced Australian summer temperatures firsthand - the metal surfaces could brand cattle. Fortunately, large established trees and strategically placed shade sails provide respite. The toilets, complete with baby change facilities, occupy that crucial middle ground between functional and frequently cleaned.
