RIVERWOOD PARK

Public BBQ

Riverwood Park reveals itself as one of those wonderfully contradictory Australian spaces where excellence and eccentricity dance together in perfect harmony. The rugby club maintains the grounds with military precision - pristine fields that would make Wimbledon groundskeepers weep with envy. Yet somehow, in a park sprawling with sporting facilities, the council forgot to install a single water fountain. Visitors facing dehydration must embark on a curious pilgrimage to the dog park down the street, where canines apparently merit better hydration facilities than humans. The playground delights families, sitting a convenient ten-minute stroll from the train station. The toilets earn praise for cleanliness, while ample parking along the dead-end street eliminates the usual suburban parking anxiety. Spring brings its own adventure - carpets of small white flowers that, whilst picturesque, seem designed by nature as tiny landing strips for particularly aggressive bees.
