POULTER AVENUE RESERVE

Public BBQ

Poulter Avenue Reserve presents a mixed bag of suburban recreation nestled alongside the Plenty River in Greensborough. The location centers around a busy football oval that hosts training sessions most weekdays and dog training on Sundays, creating a genuine community atmosphere that locals clearly cherish. The reserve's electric barbecues offer convenient cooking options, though visitors should temper expectations about the surrounding amenities. The toilet facilities, housed in a modest brick block, are functional but showing their age. A playground caters to younger visitors, though the basketball court suffers from questionable positioning dangerously close to the riverbank, where errant shots disappear into the vegetation below. Parking remains the reserve's most persistent challenge, forcing visitors onto busy streets in what many describe as genuinely hazardous conditions. However, the Plenty River's proximity transforms the space during quieter moments. The walking and cycling paths alongside the water provide genuine respite, while determined anglers find reasonable spots along the banks.
