POLBLUE CAMPGROUND AND PICNIC AREA

Public BBQ

A beautifully kept campground high in the Barrington Tops, with around forty spacious, well-spaced sites, each with well-built fire pits, and drop toilets that are serviced daily and genuinely never smell. The picnic area has been updated with a shelter, a free gas barbecue and tables inside and out. The walking is excellent: a maintained track loops the swamp with seating along the way, and wild brumbies, wombats and the occasional snake all turn up. Being the highest camping area around, the nights are cold and it is magical under snow. No dogs, as it is a national park. Two-wheel drive access is possible, but the approach is a forest road of stones and loose gravel that will test a low urban car. The drive out towards Scone is spectacular.
