PARADISE POINT RESERVE

Public BBQ

Paradise Point Reserve unfolds as a long, narrow ribbon of parkland that manages to pack considerable charm into its waterfront location. The walking tracks wind pleasantly along the Broadwater, offering glimpses of the rather more exclusive island residences across the water - a touch of voyeuristic entertainment for the democratically-minded visitor. The reserve caters admirably to families, with well-equipped playgrounds and barbecue facilities scattered throughout, though one does wonder about the logic of placing the toilets at what locals diplomatically describe as "a little walk away." The enclosed swimming area provides respite from the weekend parade of jetskiers, whose interpretation of speed limits appears refreshingly creative, if somewhat alarming to swimmers. Exercise equipment dots the landscape for the fitness-inclined, while the sandy beaches at low tide reveal themselves as perfect for dog walking.
