ORANGE VIEW PICNIC AREA

Public BBQ

Orange View Picnic Area sits halfway up Mount Canobolas, promising panoramic vistas of Orange below. The reality, however, proves rather disappointing. During my visit, overgrown grass obscured much of the area, making it difficult to locate proper facilities or even appreciate the supposedly spectacular views. The site suffers from poor maintenance - discarded tyres from burnout enthusiasts litter the grounds, creating an unwelcome eyesore. While the elevated position does offer glimpses of the valley when you venture off the main path, basic amenities are lacking. Unfortunately, some visitors have been using the area inappropriately as makeshift toilets. Despite the region's reputation for stunning viewpoints, this particular spot needs significant attention before it can fulfill its potential as a family barbecue destination. The drive up may be scenic, but you'll find better-maintained picnic areas elsewhere around Orange.
