NORFOLK LAKES PARK

Public BBQ

Norfolk Lakes Park in Narangba offers one of those unexpectedly delightful discoveries that makes you wonder why you hadn't stumbled upon it sooner. The barbecue facilities sit at one end of this well-maintained lakeside retreat, complete with undercover gazebos that provide respite from Queensland's enthusiastic sunshine. What struck me most was the thoughtful layout: toilets at one end, BBQs and picnic areas at the other, as if someone actually considered how families might want to use the space. The concrete paths make it wonderfully pram-friendly, winding around peaceful lakes where ducks, swans, and the occasional turtle provide gentle entertainment. Children seem perpetually occupied between the playground equipment and spotting wildlife from the bridge. The grounds are impeccably clean, thanks to diligent council maintenance, though visitors do mention wishing for more bins, a common lament at popular spots. Perhaps the most charming touch is the musical toilets that apparently serenade visitors with Doris Day, an quirky detail that perfectly captures this park's unpretentious charm.
