Public BBQ

A dormant volcano near Mount Gambier with a stepped path running up the outside to the crater rim, where the view opens out 360 degrees over the surrounding country with the crater itself at the centre. The climb is short but steep - anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour depending on pace - with plenty of rest spots and steel benches along the way, and roughly 200 metres of elevation. Walking the full rim circuit takes about twenty minutes more and is the best part of the visit, though it is loose underfoot up top. Take water and food, because there is nothing at all in the area, and check the weather before setting out. Wildlife is abundant: birds, echidnas, wallabies and snakes. It is also a genuinely good place to learn how a volcano is put together.

You should first check with Grant council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
