MOUNT WALSH PICNIC AREA

Public BBQ

Mount Walsh Picnic Area presents itself as a pristine day-use sanctuary where immaculate facilities meet serious hiking challenges. The picnic grounds themselves are exemplary - spotless toilets, sheltered table areas, and reliable tank water create an ideal base camp. The real draw, however, is the formidable summit trek: a demanding 1.5-hour ascent that transitions from steep bush tracks to genuine rock scrambling in the final 300 metres. Proper hiking boots are non-negotiable, and water essential. The payoff is spectacular - panoramic views that justify every grunt and scramble. Families appreciate the well-maintained facilities and ample parking, though camping enthusiasts should note that only remote bush camping is permitted.
