MORTON BOULKA PICNIC AREA

Public BBQ

A clean, peaceful picnic area on the Menindee lakes with new barbecues, a toilet, tables and fresh water, and views over a vast body of water sitting in the middle of desert country. It is a fine spot for lunch or a longer stay, good for both walking and kayaking, with excellent birdlife and kangaroos about. Shelters were being added when last described. Parts of the site have run down, though - the old interpretation trail, fireplace and bin are all beyond use - and the trails flood when the water is high. The road in is bumpy, and kangaroos make it worth driving carefully. How good it looks depends entirely on the lake levels.
