Public BBQ

A small picnic area and playground on a rise above Merrimu Reservoir, with a fine view over the water - and a view is all you get, since the reservoir and the land around it are off limits to the public. Two undercover areas seat about eight each, with benches and picnic tables, though the barbecue sits out in the open so the weather matters, and it is not unusual to find only one of them working. There is a small war memorial. It is quiet, accessible and almost never crowded. The shortcomings are consistent: facilities are aging, the play equipment is underwhelming, the toilets are frequently found dirty and without soap, and there are no bins, so everything you bring goes home with you.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Moorabool council.

You should first check with Moorabool council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
