MENZIES STREET PARK

Public BBQ

Tucked away in Middle Ridge, this modest park offered the kind of no-frills barbecue setup that Australian families have relied on for decades. The undercover picnic tables provided welcome respite from Queensland's unpredictable weather, while the adjoining playground kept children occupied with simple, sturdy equipment. The facilities were basic but functional - the sort of reliable electric hotplates that have graced suburban parks since the 1980s. What made this spot particularly appealing was its understated practicality: adequate parking, clean facilities, and enough space for a proper game of cricket without worrying about traffic. The mature trees provided natural shade, and the toilet block, while utilitarian, was reasonably maintained.
