LOCK & WEIR PARK

Public BBQ

Lock & Weir Park occupies a pleasant stretch of waterfront in Parrearra, where the Maroochy River meanders past with the unhurried grace of a Sunday afternoon. The park maintains that quintessentially Australian balance of practical amenities and natural charm - a modest playground for the youngsters, a barbecue facility that's mercifully well-maintained, and a shelter that actually provides proper cover when the Queensland sun decides to assert itself. The waterway views are genuinely lovely, particularly if you've managed to secure a spot before the weekend picnic brigade arrives. It's the sort of place where eating lunch feels like a small luxury rather than a hurried necessity. The park's quieter corners offer a respite from the usual suburban bustle, though visitors should note the absence of toilets.
