JOHN OXLEY PARK

Public BBQ

A well-facilitated reserve with a nature play playground, toilets, barbecues and good shade, alongside sporting fields that make it a decent spot to watch soccer or athletics. The highlight is a short bush walk of about 1.3 kilometres, running down to the river on timber boardwalks that are clean, well maintained and wheelchair accessible. Cafes and restaurants are close by and there is good parking. One firm piece of advice: bring insect repellent — mosquitoes are relentless on the lower section near the water, though the upper playground is largely free of them.
