JOHN HOWARD RESERVE

Public BBQ

John Howard Reserve sits beside the lake in San Remo, offering a shaded spot for families with young children. The playground features swings, slides, and decent play equipment suitable for toddlers and young kids, plus a small paved bike track circling the area. Large gum trees provide natural shade throughout the park. Facilities include electric barbecues, picnic benches, sheltered areas, and bins. A safety fence runs along the road and car park side, though it doesn't extend around the entire perimeter. The reserve connects to an excellent bike path leading to Buff Point, with takeaway shops located across the road and water views adding to the setting. The main drawback is the complete absence of toilets, which stands out given the boat ramp nearby has facilities. There's plenty of seating and grass space for spreading out, making it workable for barbecues and casual family gatherings, though the lack of amenities limits longer visits.
