JIM SLORACH PARK

Public BBQ

Jim Slorach Park occupies a curious position in the urban landscape - a spot where potential meets reality in rather uneven measures. The free barbecue facilities draw families seeking an affordable outdoor meal, and the western views genuinely reward visitors with pleasant vistas that make the journey worthwhile. The playground serves its purpose for younger adventurers, though one suspects the equipment has seen considerably better days. What strikes you most is the park's quiet character - it's refreshingly removed from the usual urban bustle, offering a genuine sense of escape despite being thoroughly metropolitan. The facilities present something of a mixed bag. While the barbecue works perfectly well for a family cookout, the absence of toilets means planning ahead becomes rather essential. The seating arrangements feel oddly positioned outside the main park area, creating an interesting dynamic where you're simultaneously part of and separate from the green space.
