HONEYSUCKLE CAMPGROUND

Public BBQ

Nestled in a lovely corner of Namadgi National Park, this well-maintained campground offers substantial pitches and clean compost toilets, making it ideal for those new to bush camping. The site holds genuine historical significance as the former Honeysuckle Creek tracking station, where Australia received the first images of Neil Armstrong stepping onto the Moon in 1969. While only building footprints remain, informative displays bring this remarkable chapter to life. The location provides access to excellent walking trails, including an 11-kilometre section of the Australian Alps walk and a moderate climb to Booroomba Rocks. Free entry, BBQ facilities, and reliable water supplies add to the appeal. The mountain road proves reasonably straightforward for conventional vehicles.
