HEPBURN MINERAL SPRINGS

Public BBQ

Hepburn Mineral Springs delivers a delightfully deceptive experience - though I must grumble about the misleading expectations it sets. One arrives anticipating dramatic natural springs only to discover glorified taps dispensing effervescent mineral water with a distinctly sulphurous bite that would challenge even the most adventurous palate. The location redeems itself spectacularly during autumn when the towering trees transform into a kaleidoscope of colour. The well-appointed picnic area features proper barbecues and benches, whilst clean public toilets (complete with soap, a pleasant surprise) serve families well. Children gravitate naturally to the small playground and peaceful lake setting. The nearby café adds charm with its cherry plum tree, and the green walking paths through Victoria's countryside prove genuinely beautiful. Despite my initial disappointment about the springs' modest presentation, this scenic spot delivers a thoroughly pleasant day out for families seeking a relaxed picnic destination with historical mineral water novelty.
