Public BBQ

A rainforest campground in Wooroonooran just off the highway, with a short walk down to Henrietta Creek and the Nandroya Falls track, which takes about forty minutes each way by the short route and rewards the effort. Sites at the back give the best rainforest feel; those along the road catch traffic noise, and some go boggy after rain. Site 11 is the only one that sees any sun at all, which matters if you are running solar. Sites 8 and 10 have steep, narrow access unsuitable for a caravan. There is a gas stove, a few picnic benches and drop toilets, though these have gone unserviced and without paper for days at a time. Cassowaries are about and will chase, so give them room. March flies and mosquitoes are a common complaint, though not in the dry.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Cassowary Coast council.

You should first check with Cassowary Coast council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
