Public BBQ

A serene, well-maintained picnic area in Plenty Gorge, with wetlands and grassy slopes that give stunning views on a clear day. The Le Page Homestead sits alongside and adds some history, with clean toilets tucked behind it. Facilities are solid: electric barbecues and picnic shelters, with walking and cycling trails including the short, scenic and accessible Wonga Track. Kangaroos come down for water in the late afternoon and the birdlife is excellent. Signage on the trails is minimal, so a trail app is worth having before you set out. No dogs, which helps keep it peaceful. It closes early, and weekdays are quieter.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Whittlesea council.

You should first check with Whittlesea council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
