FROG HOLLOW RESERVE

Public BBQ

Frog Hollow Reserve sprawls across Camberwell with the practical charm of a well-used community space. The reserve centers around a sizable oval that transforms seasonally - cricket wickets in summer, soccer goals in winter - while the Anniversary Trail weaves along its perimeter, connecting to broader walking networks. Families gravitate toward the playground equipment, though the aging structures lack adequate shade and can become uncomfortably hot on warmer days. The BBQ facilities anchor several picnic spots scattered throughout the grounds, complemented by sufficient parking and basic amenities including toilets. Train enthusiasts will appreciate the reserve's position alongside the railway line, where regular services provide an industrial soundtrack. Evening visitors discover surprisingly clear stargazing opportunities in this urban setting. The reserve's origins as a natural watercourse become apparent during winter months when sections turn muddy, though this hardly deters the steady stream of dog walkers who favour the expansive open areas for exercise.
