ELSON PARK

Public BBQ

Elson Park in Capel struck me as one of those wonderfully unpretentious community gems that seems to have been designed by people who actually understand families. The expansive grounds offer enough space for children to tear about on bikes and scooters without parents constantly shouting warnings, while the skate park provides that perfect outlet for older kids who've outgrown swings but aren't quite ready for adult conversation. The BBQ facilities are well-positioned and functional - no fancy bells and whistles, just solid equipment that does the job. What particularly impressed me was how the space manages to feel both spacious and intimate; large enough that you're not tripping over other families, yet cozy enough that children can roam safely within sight. The nearby bowling club adds a pleasant community feel to the area, and the whole place has that rare quality of being genuinely beautiful without trying too hard.
