DUTTON BLUFF PLAYGROUND

Public BBQ

Perched on Portland's coastline, Dutton Bluff Playground offers one of those unexpectedly rewarding stops that justifies the coastal detour. The elevated position delivers genuinely spectacular ocean views, particularly striking in the evening light when the Southern Ocean stretches endlessly toward the horizon. The playground itself might not win awards for size or innovation, but it serves its purpose admirably alongside a well-maintained stretch of grass perfect for a family picnic. What impressed me most was the thoughtful layout - the BBQ facilities are positioned to take advantage of those coastal vistas, making this more than just another suburban park. The car park is surprisingly decent for a coastal location, and everything feels properly maintained without being overly manicured. It's the sort of place where you'd plan to stay an hour and find yourself lingering much longer, watching the kids play while soaking in that magnificent coastal panorama.
