CUNNINGHAM PARK

Public BBQ

Cunningham Park presents a sprawling recreational complex that's clearly seen better days, though it remains a vital community hub. The expansive football fields dominate the landscape, though the ground markings could use attention - a common sight at many suburban sporting venues. What struck me most was the sheer variety of facilities crammed into this space: football pitches, cricket nets, basketball and netball courts, plus outdoor exercise equipment scattered about like fitness breadcrumbs. The park's Achilles heel is its complete lack of shade - visitors arrive armed with umbrellas and portable chairs like desert explorers. The walking paths stretch for kilometres, perfect for those who enjoy their exercise with a side of sun exposure. Facilities are generally clean, though the single bin servicing multiple sporting areas creates predictable waste management challenges. It's functional rather than fancy - exactly what you'd expect from a community park that serves as the neighbourhood's sporting lifeline.
