CROCKER PARK

Public BBQ

Crocker Park strikes that pleasant balance between function and charm that makes for a genuinely useful family stop. The playground is the star here - a proper maze of climbing frames, slides, and jumping apparatus that could exhaust a small army of children. What sets it apart is the thoughtful design: sheltered seating areas where parents can actually sit comfortably while maintaining sight lines to the action. The BBQ facilities are well-maintained, though you'll want to bring your own supplies. There's a basketball court for older kids and a pétanque pitch that adds an unexpectedly continental touch. Public toilets are clean and accessible, with decent car parking that doesn't require a engineering degree to navigate. The playground equipment, while functional, shows its age and could benefit from an upgrade. More notably, the children's area lacks proper fencing - something to bear in mind with particularly adventurous toddlers. Still, it's an excellent spot for a family barbecue or impromptu picnic, offering that rare combination of convenience and genuine recreation that makes a place worth remembering.
