CITY PARK

Public BBQ

City Park, Launceston offers an unexpected urban oasis where Japanese macaques steal the show alongside vibrant dahlia displays. This well-maintained park draws families with its peculiar charm - snow monkeys chattering in their enclosure while curious ducks waddle past picnic areas. The extensive walking trails wind through established gardens, though winter visits reveal sparse plantings between the spectacular dahlia beds. Children gravitate toward the playground and miniature train rides, while the monkey exhibit reliably draws crowds, particularly when babies are visible. Public toilets near the lower entrance serve BBQ families, and two-hour street parking accommodates visitors. The macaque enclosure closes at 4pm, making timing crucial for this uniquely Tasmanian experience where exotic primates meet classic Australian park amenities.
