CHARLESWORTH PARK

Public BBQ

Charlesworth Park strikes you as one of those unpretentious local gems that does exactly what it promises. The kids make a beeline for the central playground while parents settle onto the strategically placed benches, though the recent tree removal has left everyone squinting a bit more than usual. The walking track loops around exercise equipment stationed at each corner – a thoughtful touch for those who fancy a workout with their fresh air. Tennis courts and cricket nets cater to the sporty types, though the bitumen surfaces have seen better decades. The BBQ facilities handle family celebrations admirably, and mercifully, the toilets are usually unlocked (though pack your own paper). It's the sort of place where vandals occasionally test their creativity, but the park soldiers on, delivering exactly what local families need.
