CANOON ROAD RECREATION AREA

Public BBQ

Canoon Road Recreation Area proves that sometimes the best discoveries hide behind the most unassuming names. What initially appeared to be a modest barbecue spot revealed itself as South Turramurra's sporting epicenter, where tennis courts gleam like emerald jewels and nearly thirty netball courts stretch across the landscape in impressive formation. The tennis facilities are genuinely excellent, courts that would make Wimbledon groundskeepers nod approvingly, complete with proper amenities that suggest someone actually thought about the player experience. The netball complex is equally impressive, though one suspects the architects were perhaps overly optimistic about parking provisions. While spots exist around the perimeter, arriving during peak sports hours requires the patience of a saint and the reversing skills of a courier driver. The walking paths meander pleasantly through the grounds, perfect for warming up or cooling down, while the barbecue facilities and picnic tables provide a civilized spot for post-match refreshments.
