BYNG ROAD PARK

Public BBQ

Tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood, Byng Road Park reveals itself as one of those delightfully unpretentious local gems that Australian families have quietly claimed as their own. The modest playground punches above its weight, with spider web climbers and slides that had both toddlers and older kids happily occupied during my visit - though parents should note there's just one swing of each type, so timing matters. What struck me most was the park's understated versatility. The open grassy expanse proved perfect for an impromptu game of footy, while the half basketball court offered older kids a proper challenge. The shade sails provide blessed relief during warmer months, and I was charmed by locals mentioning the occasional koala spotting in the surrounding trees - though I wasn't quite that fortunate. The park's biggest shortcoming, universally acknowledged by visitors, is the absence of toilet facilities - a planning oversight that requires some forethought for longer visits.
