BULAHDELAH BOAT RAMP

Public BBQ

This roadside stop along the Pacific Highway offers a convenient respite for travellers needing to stretch their legs, though it comes with some significant caveats. The location serves as a 72-hour donation-based rest area for self-contained vehicles, complete with grey water collection facilities,a detail that's apparently not immediately obvious from the signage. At least one visitor learned this the hard way, copping a $110 fine despite having waste water containers and makeshift facilities. Rangers do patrol, catching unprepared campers off guard. The setting itself is undeniably pleasant: a pretty spot perfect for a quick picnic or lunch break away from freeway monotony. Toilets are available for day visitors, and the area has seen recent upgrades. For bikepacking enthusiasts and hikers, it's worth noting this serves as an access point for Mount Alum trails, with the nearby town of Bulahdelah offering a handy resupply stop and caravan park. Just ensure your rig meets the self-contained requirements before settling in for the night.
