BRACKNELL RIVER RESERVE

Public BBQ

A small, tranquil camping area on the creek at Bracknell, three dollars a night paid at the roadhouse, with a four-night limit. It is for fully self-contained vans only, with no tents and no sleeping in cars, and there is room for only a handful of rigs, none of them large. Flushing toilets, a barbecue, a gazebo, a few tables and chairs, water and mown grass make it comfortable, though the toilets are locked overnight and serve the day-use area. The creek holds trout and platypus, and the township and its pub, which does good meals, are a short walk away. Quiet enough for stargazing, with skies dark enough that the aurora has been seen from here. Dogs on lead.
